About Michelle

Michelle Banack might as well be called a Vero Beach native. Although Michelle was born in Mississippi and lived in Laurel, MS, a beautiful small town recently gaining recognition due to the popular HGTV’s Home Town show, she moved to Vero in 1973 and is a Vero Beach High School graduate. Michelle achieved a Bachelor of Arts from Florida Atlantic University in Education and holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. She worked for the School District of Indian River County for 30 years as a teacher, literacy coach, and administrator and recently retired as Assistant Principal of Beachland Elementary School.

Michelle’s family has solid roots in Vero Beach. Her husband, Rusty Banack, whose family first started growing Florida citrus in the late 1800’s, has been a citrus grower, producer and owner of businesses including Countryside Citrus, Quality Caretaking, Bella Vista Nursery and the recent family venture El Sid’s Taqueria!

Michelle and Rusty have three daughters. Their daughter, Brittany Banack Williams, a University of Central Florida graduate with a Bachelor of Science, is a manager at Countryside Citrus. Brittany is married to George Williams and they have 3 children: Gracyn (13 years), Grady (10 years) and Palmer (3 years). Brittany is also a licensed real estate agent at AMAC and looks forward to partnering up for some mother/daughter deals! Their daughter, Sydney Banack Bosetti, graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science, as well as the University of Miami earning a Master’s in Nursing and at the University of Florida earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice. Sydney currently specializes in cardiology and works at Baker Cardiology. She is married to Andrew Bosetti and they have a daughter, Kate, who recently turned a year old. Michelle and Rusty’s third daughter, Natalie Banack Odom, is an eighth-grade student at Storm Grove Middle School. She hopes to be the second doctor in the family by becoming a veterinarian.

Spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them rotten is one of Michelle’s hobbies. She also enjoys walking, yoga, and a new adventure, Endo 50. She recently began getting back into tennis and would love to try pickleball. When she is not with the grandkids or taking a fitness class, Michelle enjoys cooking, decorating and loves to travel.

Each year, Michelle and her entire family of 20ish people take vacations together. They have been all over the United States and several places in Europe including Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Prague and next on the agenda is a trip to Italy. Michelle has become an expert at navigating long flights with children, but she loves every minute of it!

Michelle and Rusty have a 12-year-old chocolate Lab named Harvey and a 3-year-old stray named Piper who somehow found the family and has become a wonderful addition. Michelle also has 3 “grand-dogs” who come to visit often. They live on 5 acres and all the dogs like to be outside chasing each other as well as an occasional squirrel or rabbit.

Previously a member of The Junior League as well as Children’s Home Society, Michelle enjoys being involved in the Vero Beach community. Now that she is retired from the school district, she looks forward to becoming more involved in philanthropic opportunities as a volunteer.
