When you're selling a home in Vero Beach, the first thing you need to do is declutter. (After that, you'll clean and stage - but decluttering is the first, and perhaps most essential, step.)
To declutter every room in your home, you'll need these five bins - nothing more, nothing less.
Organization experts know a secret that most of us don't: Decluttering is simple if you have the right tools. Grab yourself five bins (cardboard boxes are fine!) and label them this way:
Each of these bins has its own purpose, so here's how you use them. Oh - and put on your fitness tracker, because you're going to get plenty of steps between them.
Use the Put Away Bin for everything you and your family use that has somehow made its way out of its home. Toys in the living room, a jacket on the back of a dining chair and shoes you find under the sofa all go in the Put Away Bin.
Items you don't want but that can be recycled - paper, plastic or glass - go directly in the Recycle Bin. If it fills up, take it to the bin in the garage or to the recycling station immediately.
The Fix Bin is for everything you're going to use but can't right now because it's broken or damaged. Make sure that you only put things in this bin if you know who can fix them, when you can take them in for repairs, and how much it'll cost to do so - otherwise, they're going to need to go in the Trash Bin.
The Donate Bin is for items that someone can use - not you, but someone. Make sure they're items that you know someone will use, like clothes that are still in good repair but no longer fit or toys your kids don't play with (but that still work). When you fill the Donate Bin, transfer all its items into a large plastic bag or another box and put it in your car immediately - before you (or anyone else) can change your mind or forget about the items.
The Trash Bin is where everything you won't use belongs. Be ruthless if you're really trying to declutter!
