The three hottest home upgrades buyers are looking for – and that are helping homes sell quickly (at or above list price) are:

If you’re feeling a touch of cabin fever after months of sticking close to home, you’re not alone. Buyers are feeling it too, so outdoor living space is at a premium right now. Don’t add a swimming pool or anything drastic, though. You don’t want buyers thinking about maintenance! Instead, add an in-ground fire pit or refinish your deck. Think about adding a gazebo or pergola and add some patio furniture so buyers can envision themselves escaping to the backyard.
It doesn’t look like people are heading back to the office anytime soon – and even those who are will still be working from home quite a bit. If you have a room in your home that you can convert to a home office, now’s the time to do it, even if it’s only to help you sell. If you don’t have enough space, carve out an area in the corner of the dining room or in a guest bedroom that can function as a workspace.
A lot of people are skipping gym days thanks to the pandemic, and with talk of a second wave coming this fall and winter, they’re looking for in-home workout spaces. If you have a spare room, add a stationary bike or treadmill, yoga mats and a shelf full of water bottles in your home. If not, you can still sell the idea of workout space by adding a yoga mat, blocks and towels to a shelf in the living room.
