3 Clever Ways to Use Wine Corks Around the House
If you enjoy partaking of a little bit of the bubbly from time to time you may want to hold on to a few of the bottle corks once you see these clever ways you can repurpose them for use around your home.
Snack Bag Button
This one is pretty amazing. Snack bags are notoriously difficult to keep closed. If you don’t have one of those huge bag clips you end up trying to fold or roll the bag closed, but it always comes undone and air creeps into your chips, pretzels, and popcorn. Wrapping rubber bands around your bags can crush the contents. Here’s where a wine cork comes in. Use a knife and make a vertical slice into the cork about halfway through. Slide the cork over the center of your folded snack bag to keep it closed. Use two corks for large bags and position them accordingly. Clever, right?
You can already see it, can’t you? Insert a screw eye into the center of one end of a cork. Next, attach a split key chain ring to the eye of the screw and you’re done. Couldn’t be any simpler. This is perfect for holding one or two keys. To make the screw eye extra sturdy dab it with a strong adhesive before inserting it into the cork. This clever use of a cork is one of those why didn’t I think of that moments. New cottage industry?
When you’re not using your earbuds keeping the chord tamed and not tangled inside of pockets, purses, and backpacks can be quite a challenge. Here’s your solution. Insert the metal end of your chord into one end of a cork, wrap the chord around the cork, and secure it in place. You won’t have to worry about having to unjumble and unknot your chord. If one end of the cork gets overused just plug into the other side.
Guess what? You don’t have to be a wine drinker to benefit from these cork hacks. You can order recycled corks in bulk online.
