Whether it is for a large development sale or a small one-bedroom condominium, Phil Sunkel takes the time to fully understand his client’s needs. Phil’s local knowledge and expertise, coupled with his unparalleled skills and accomplishments, make him the ideal partner for your real estate journey.

With Phil’s top-notch marketing and human relations skills, the transition from Visual Information Specialist to becoming a full-time real estate professional was an easy one.

Through the years, Phil has developed a diverse communications and marketing background in the news, real estate, music, sports, military and space industries. He has worked for the Lane Communications Group, the Society of Professional Journalists, Triple Threat TV (ESPN, MTV, MSNBC, A&E and PBS production house) and Red Bull Energy Drinks. He was the creator and editor of Hype Music Festivals, a media relations collective which provided staff photo teams, video production teams, staff writers, audio tapers and media relation services.

Beginning in 2009, Phil began a freelance photography and videography business and later became one of the staff photographers for Vero Beach’s 32963 publication. Through his work in media, Phil has interacted with many notable celebrities including musicians, professional athletes, philanthropists and high-profile, successful business executives and entrepreneurs. Phil culminated his visual marketing career with the 45th Space Wing working on the United States Space Program at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in the public affairs department where he interacted with U.S. senators, congressman, generals and other dignitaries from around the world.

Phil is a real estate multi-million-dollar top producer and prides himself on building solid, meaningful relationships with his clients. He has a broad experience with luxury real estate sales as well as vacant land sales with potential for large-scale development. He has been involved with luxury developments starting at ground-zero such as Vero Beach’s The Strand Beach Cottages, a 21-home island community.

Phillip C. Sunkel, IV and his family have called Vero Beach home for three generations. Phil’s grandfather, Earnest Eden “2E” Norris, Jr. first discovered Vero Beach in 1943 when, as a Marine Corps Captain, he arrived to train as a Marine Corsair pilot. At that time, the country was in the middle of World War II and Vero Beach housed a U.S. Naval air station. It was also the time when 2E met Alex MacWilliam, Jr. who was a Lieutenant and oversaw the officer’s club housed at the present-day Ocean Grill. 2E went on to become a Princeton graduate and an executive Vice President of BBDO in New York City, NY. His love of Vero Beach remained, and in 1969, he began purchasing property in John’s Island. In 1972, he finished one of the first estate homes in John’s Island and subsequently began to develop Bent Pine Golf Club.

Phil grew up in Ridgefield, Fairfield County, Connecticut and Manhattan, New York, but his parents decided that Vero Beach was a better place to raise their family. They moved “home” to Vero when Phil was age 13. Phil attended Indian River Charter High School and graduated from Flagler College with a B.A. in Communications and Advertising.

Phil has traveled the world, but Vero Beach is still his favorite place to be. He has spent time with his family at homes in Nantucket, Massachusetts and Newport, Rhode Island. He has also traveled to France, Ireland, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Bahamas, and all over the United States.

Phil and his wife, Melanie, have four children ranging in age from 15 months to age 10. All of them enjoy spending time outdoors either hiking, boating or fishing and of course, Phil will be behind the camera photographing or shooting video of his family and their travels.

The process of buying or selling your home should be a pleasant experience. Phil has the skills and expertise to help you navigate in an extremely competitive market.

After all, Vero is more than the people, more than a town, more than a community, Vero is your home.
