Later, as the owner of an advertising agency, his clients included major home building firms. Regardless of the “hat” he has worn in his previous careers, his philosophy is to treat each client as his “one and only.”
In 1993, John and his wife Angela, moved to Vero Beach from Dallas, where they had owned a business marketing arts and antiques to interior design and architectural firms. As a Vero Beach resident, he has enjoyed both the unspoiled beauty of the area and the many cultural activities which he believes are well worth working to preserve. As a result, he has served as president of the Friends of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra. Both John and his wife are supporters of the Vero Beach Museum of the Arts. As a strong believer in the importance of developing both his leadership and public speaking skills, he now serves as president of the Beachsiders Club, a local chapter of Toastmasters International.
He and his wife Angela, who is a specialist in staging, interior decorating and renovation, work together as The Pate Team.
